The purpose of this thesis is to examine the South China Sea dispute and make an analysis of why
the dispute is still not escalating, as well as the tension of the South China Sea dispute between the
United States and the People's Republic of China. Following this, possible solutions and their
impact on both the South China Sea region and the international community will be examined.
Here I am arguing that the conflict between the US and China could potentially result in a new
World War as a result of the South China Sea context. Because the desire of the conflicting parties
to be the sole director in each field, which they do not see open to sharing in this deep issue, reveals
the fact that the solution to this issue will pass through close combat. While some countries secure
themselves in the shadow of powerful states, others seek ways to be conciliatory. However, the
Spratly Islands and Paracel Islands in the South China Sea, which both the USA and China desire,
prevent the creation of multilateral security in the region. The reasons for the active defense of the
claiming states in the region, including the question of who is all the other formations, including
the Spratly Islands, which are spread over an area of 200 hectares, are examined, and in this
context, answers are sought to the questions of why the USA is in this region from the outside.
There have been frequent conflicts over sovereignty rights and jurisdiction, and China, Vietnam,
Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei claim some or all of the islands in the region; thus,
the Spratly and Paracel Islands became an important point in the dispute. The really worrying part
of the South China dispute is undoubtedly discussed in the "nine dash line" in areas along the South China Sea where China disputes the claims of many other countries. A powerful way to understand
China's thoughts and perspective in this region is through nine dashe line. On the other hand,
ASEAN's member states have benefited from the continuous consensus, consensus and
consultation of policy makers and have worked towards achieving long-lasting peace in the region
rather than absolute settlement. Since the 2002 Declaration on the Behavior of Parties in the South
China Sea, many problems have been suspended because solutions have been delayed and the
absolute truth in the region cannot be expressed with concrete examples.
The study of the South China Sea dispute is important in the field of international studies. Because
any solution to the problem will affect international trade and international security. In addition,
the peaceful resolution of this dispute can be used as an example for the resolution of other disputes
of a similar nature. Finally, the South China Sea conflict is an important example of how countries
use their soft and hard power to resolve disputes. Because, the auxiliary elements of the prevention
of the dangerous tensions that have increased recently or that their results can be less damaging is
a situation of how countries and organizations approach this issue.
