Respectively. The performance of alternative modulation formats such as NRZ and RZ, as
well Due to its high transmission data rates, availability of a license to drive spectrum, signal
security, and cost efficiency, Free Space Optical (FSO) communication is becoming
increasingly attractive as an alternative to Radio Frequency (RF) communication. A 32-
channel DWDM FSO system with a data throughput of 1.28 Tbps has been designed in this
study. The suggested system was tested over a range of distances (5-20 km) and for three
different types of rain (light, medium, and heavy), with attenuation values of (1.988, 5.844,
and 9.29) dB, as 5 scenarios of varying input power of (-5,-10,0,5, and 10) dBm, has been
investigated in this paper. The system performance improved as the input power was
increased, according to the results obtained from the analyzed parameters of Quality Factor
(QF) and Bit Error Rate (BER). In addition, it has been discovered that employing RZ
produces better outcomes for light rain cases in all input power scenarios. While the RZ
modulation type performed better in medium rain for distances up to 5 km, the NRZ
modulation style is recommended for longer distances. And, in a heavy rain environment, utilizing 0 dBm and 5 dBm power indicated that NRZ is
considerably superior, while increasing the power to 10 dBm provided much more scalable
outcomes concerning the obtained distance of merely 5 km. Also, has been proposed an
amplification technique to increase the transmission distance over mid and heavy rain
situations up to 20 km by using an optical amplifier with a gain of 10 dB.
