Öğe Development and optimization of emulgel formulation containing chamomile via quality by design (QBD) approach(Altınbaş Üniversitesi / Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, 2023) Barbar, Arkan Yashar EzzulddinThe purpose of this study was to create an emulgel formulation containing Matricaria chamomilla (chamomile) aqueous extract as an active ingredient that was suited for dermatitis illness via Quality by Design (QbD) approach. In clinical practice, the majority of treatment plans for atopic dermatitis are symptomatic, all-purpose anti-inflammatory, or immunosuppressive drugs. Topical corticosteroids are the first-line anti-inflammatory therapy that is most usually suggested. However, their continued or protracted use, particularly if the course of therapy lasts more than three weeks, may cause local side effects include skin shrinkage, telangiectasias, purpura, striae, and changes to the acneiform structure of the face moreover to some studies show that they may have harmful systemic side effects, such as the reduction of the adrenal cortex's natural hormone synthesis. A new kind of medication delivery system with an alternative ingredient has been developed to overcome these kinds of issues. Emulgels consist of three prime agents: humectants, emollients, and occlusive agents. Occlusive agents form a layer on the Stratum corneum (SC) and prohibit water vaporization. whilst, emollients lubricate, mitigate and soften the skin. Meantime, humectants raise water amount that held by the SC layer via their hydrophilic properties. Emulgel is a brand-new dosage form made from polymers and appropriate excipients. QbD approach was used for the first time in the preparation of the emulgel formulation containing chamomile extract. In the design of the formulation, the design space formula was obtained by taking support from computer program MODDE software. The design space of the drug has been optimized with the results of the outputs obtained from the variables of critical input parameters.
