Öğe A comprehensive analysis of BIM technology's critical role in assessing cost for complex dam construction projects(International Information and Engineering Technology Association, 2023) Hasan, Hussein; Naimi, Sepanta; Hameed, Mohammed MajeedOver recent decades, the adoption of modern techniques and advantageous construction methods has significantly improved the construction process. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is one such critical approach that has demonstrated its considerable effectiveness in estimating cost and material quantities for large-scale projects, such as dams. This research investigates and assesses the essential role and contributions of BIM technology and associated software tools in estimating the cost of dam construction projects, characterized by their high complexity, intricate management, extended construction period, and substantial concrete and steel material requirements. A mixed-methods study incorporating three primary strategies was employed: (A) literature review, (B) quantitative research, and (C) qualitative research approaches. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and an online survey questionnaire. The key findings from this study's analysis (using an Iraqi dam as a case study) indicate that the implementation of BIM technology and software concepts is highly advantageous, dynamic, and effective in evaluating construction project budgets. Furthermore, the research highlights that accurately estimating the cost of dams can significantly reduce the time, financial investment, and effort needed to assess the budget of construction projects, particularly those involving dams with higher complexity, extended construction periods, challenging management, and intricate activities and tasks. Additionally, the use of BIM approaches was found to substantially mitigate human error in cost estimations and enhance the performance and accuracy of dam cost evaluations.Öğe A comprehensive review on the environmental impact of the climate change on water flow rate and water quality in Tigris River(American Institute of Physics Inc., 2023) Al-Saedi, Mahmood S.; Naimi, Sepanta; Al-Sharify, Zainab T.Water pollution and climate change are two of the most pressing challenges facing all countries seeking appropriate water for municipal, industrial, and agricultural use. In addition to industrial and medical waste, it is apparent that the Tigris River is polluted. Because the region lacks precipitation owing to climate change, the concentration of pollutants near the source of pollution is high, as is the water deficit throughout the year. The Tigris River is one of the waterways that has been adversely affected by conservative contaminants. The distribution of physical, chemical, and biological contaminants such as BOD5, TDS, pH, TH, SO4, Na+, and turbidity in the river have been reviewed in this work. Many factors affecting the water quality, including the climate change and the industrial wastewater in the riversides, which exceeded the acceptable limits according to the standard specifications for surface water, have also been reviewed.Öğe A new model for cost estimation construction project using Hybrid importance regression ensemble method(2023) Alkhuadhan, Ali Najah Abdulkadhim; Naimi, SepantaCost estimating entails gathering and evaluating historical data, as well as using quantitative models, methodologies, tools, and databases to forecast the cost of a program in the future. At the early stages of the building design process, the cost is considered one of the most important elements in making decisions. During the design phase of a project, cost estimating is quite essential. To compelet a construction project successfully, it is critical to design a usable model and method for cost estimation in construction projects. For the above reason, this study has developed a hybrid method to conduct an accurate cost estimation in construction projects in Iraq. This study also conducted a rigorous survey to find five main influential factors with thirty-six sub-factors in the Iraqi market. It was evaluated through previous studies, questionnaires, and surveys of twenty projects to build a matrix factors database for construction projects. This work gathered the construction cost factors from relevant research and expert views. In the second step, the researcher ranked the factors within the Importance Regression Ensemble Method then the K-Nearest Neighbor Method was applied to specify the effect of the near-effective factors on the cost. The outcome of this study will be helpful to construction professionals in estimating a construction project effectively.Öğe A novel time management approach for the construction industry: a mathematical analysis(International Information and Engineering Technology Association, 2024) Alsaedi, Ali; Naimi, SepantaThe primary focus of this study revolves around the issues associated with timely completion of construction projects and the achievement of critical milestones. The extension of a project's timeline often leads to adverse effects on the initial objectives and accomplishments. The present study investigates the consequences of substantial disparities between the real and expected durations of projects at any given point. The focus is given to project scheduling and methodological study, utilizing the Schedule Arrival on Time Index and Planning System Progress Index. The results indicate that it is important to consider the minimum realistic timescales for each project, in addition to evaluating the coefficient for construction safety margin. In the determination of boundary constraints for project status changes, it is imperative to consider the protective immunity coefficient value and the probability of timely completion of all tasks. The implementation of the suggested preventive measures can effectively reduce the probability of building project managers encountering delays in meeting deadlines. The timely identification of significant temporal deviations empowers managers to implement essential modifications, thereby mitigating the risk of difficulties increasing and compromising the project's overall performance. This study presents a modern paradigm for efficient project management in the construction sector.Öğe An optimal cost estimation practices of fuzzy AHP for building construction projects in Libya(Salehan Institute of Higher Education, 2022) Alfaggi, Walid; Naimi, SepantaThis paper analysis and reviews the construction projects in Libya. In Libya, construction projects often face challenges due to the lack of proper information and data in cost-estimation methods. The primary goal of this paper is to demonstrate the estimation of construction costs using various methods. An optimization strategy based on a well-known robust algorithm The Fuzzy AHP technique is used to estimate the best roof structure choice based on cost rank among one or two-way flat slab, post-tension slab, pre-tension slab, waffle slab, and hollow core slab. The roofs were created employing five main factors that were implemented in a real-world situation in the Libyan building industry. The cost of materials, labor, machinery, transportation, and trash on site were all considered. Research findings show that the models can assist decision-makers in determining the cost rank of roof selection. When a range of methods are applied and compared to guarantee that this is the best option. This research study must be taken seriously when estimating and managing the contract and length of highway construction projects in the early stages of project development so that the time difference at the end of the project can be kept to a minimum by decision-makers when choosing the roof with the lowest cost.Öğe Analysis of influential selection factors that affect sustainable construction management of steel structure building(International Organization on 'Technical and Physical Problems of Engineering', 2023) Albohameedi, Karrar; Naimi, SepantaConstruction is a complicated procedure that often occurs in a loosely supervised environment. The materials used to construct a building are critical towards its long-term sustainable development. The components used in building projects play an important role in deciding a tower's energy use and ecological impact. Despite the fact that there have been few studies on assertions, modification orders, as well as cost overruns due to the market specification in Iraq. This study used the Delphi method to create a regulated system for tracking building projects in Iraq. The first step was to identify the key elements in steel construction project. Follow that, the combined data was used to create an Odds ratio for possible threats. The information collected was analyzed using the Adapted, which has been evolved using MATLAB programming, to ascertain the factor rating. The findings revealed the most significant factor was the technical difficulty of the material process of transporting. The most significant determinants in this type of structure in Iraq are the characteristic of building company content availability free markets. It was possible to contrast the RII research results to those of the Order of preference by similarity study. In this field, the outcomes were better compared in assessing hazards.Öğe Artificial intelligence based statistical process control for monitoring and quality control of water resources: a complete digital solution(2023) Emad, Ahmed; Naimi, Sepanta; Altaie, Meervat R.In order to monitor water resource projects, this study examines the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts in the context of dam projects. A survey of the body of knowledge on the subject of water resource project monitoring methods is the first stage in the research project. In this research, we'll focus on the advantages of use SPC charts to achieve that objective. Water resource projects are crucial pieces of infrastructure, and as such, they need constant supervision to ensure that they continue to operate properly and efficiently. SPC, or statistical process control, is a technique used for quality control and process monitoring across a wide range of industries. On the other hand, traditional SPC methodologies might not be suitable for real-time monitoring of water resource projects due to the complexity and unpredictability of water systems. Artificial intelligence (AI)-based methods have lately gained attention as a potential solution to these issues. In this paper, we provide an artificial intelligence-based SPC framework for real-time monitoring and quality control of projects involving water resources using a case study of a dam building project. The framework that has been proposed combines SPC with machine learning techniques to automatically detect anomalies and predict how the system will behave in the future. The results show that the artificial intelligence-based SPC framework outperforms the traditional SPC techniques in terms of timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency. The framework has the potential to improve the management and long-term profitability of water resource projects, which would ultimately aid in preserving the environment and the general public's health.Öğe Assessment of a decision-making model for monitoring the success of a project for smart buildings(Salehan Institute of Higher Education, 2023) Amhaimedi, Serag; Naimi, Sepanta; Alsallami, SuraObjective: To express the usage of intelligent concepts in the architectural building construction field that are primarily concerned with reducing building energy use. Improved energy-saving methods and the use of environmentally friendly design principles are essential in this field. This type of managerial decision-making is necessary for the success of these types of projects. Also, this research conducted a comparative study on Building Information Modelling (BIM) and (MCDM) decision-making limitations as presented in the article. Analysis: the conventional technique, on the other hand, is unable to offer data on variance from typical performance levels. The main point based on Delphi results of construction cost variables has been observed 19 effective factors. Finding and Novelty: The RII observed that the most effective aspects of an intelligent building are the number of floors in the building, the kind of structural design, and the size of the shadow cast on the surface of the building. The Multi-Criteria Decision Maker (MCDM) observed significant differences in planned value (PV) and actual value (AC) results. In addition, as a result of the current approach, it is possible to track project costs and timelines more precisely.Öğe Automation of cost control process in construction project building information modeling (BIM)(International University of Sarajevo, 2022) Khaleel, Amjed; Naimi, SepantaThis research is carried out to investigate the critical role of BIM technology in estimating the construction project cost with higher accuracy than the manual method of budget evaluation. A construction project case study is selected, presenting a commercial complex in Al-Anbar, Al-Ramadi, Iraq. A comparative analysis is conducted to compare the accuracy of the REVIT software (BIM technology) with the manual calculation method. The major research findings revealed that using the BIM technology via the REVIT software provided a more effective approach and practicality than manual calculations of steel, concrete, and other architectural components. In addition, the findings confirmed that the accuracy of cost estimation using BIM technology via REVIT software is better than manual calculations. The reason is the elimination of human errors during the calculations process. Thus, accurate results can be obtained from the REVIT software. Also, the research outputs indicated that using the BIM technology can save much time, effort, and cost needed to calculate the cost of the construction project compared to the manual cost estimation of the construction project.Öğe Based BIM techniques to clash detection for construction projects(International University of Sarajevo, 2023) Abdalhameed, Braa F.; Naimi, SepantaBuilding Information Modeling (BIM) has brought about a qualitative change in the design and management of construction projects because it represents a digital simulation of the physical characteristics of the building, and this increases its efficiency before the actual construction begins. In Iraq, most construction projects still use CAD two-dimensional drawing for the purpose of the implementation process, especially government projects, and this causes many problems due to the difficulty of communication between the various disciplines involved in the design and misunderstanding during implementation. This type of problem is reduced by combining BIM drawings prepared by designers and making them into a single model. In this process of merging conflicts are found using BIM tools such as Autodesk Navisworks. There are three main types of detection. This article includes how a clash detector can help improve clashes in the design phase before starting to construct a specific building using BIM applications and focuses on hard detection type (overlap of a particular element with the others). The methodology involved in this research is to study an educational building (24-classroom model school) consisting of structural and architectural BIM models only, clash detection analysis is done using Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Navisworks Manage software.Öğe Behavior of interaction effect between two-bars on the bond between reinforcing bars and fiber reinforced concrete(Asian Research Publishing Network, 2022) Bayoumi, EL-Said Abd-Allah; Alzamel, Ghazi Ayman; Naimi, SepantaThis paper presents an experimental investigation on the behavior of interaction effect between two-bars on the bond between reinforcing bars and fiber reinforced concrete (FRC). This study contains two phases. The first phase included the studied bond behavior for specimens having a spacing between two-bars =25mm while the second phase focused on the study of bond behavior for specimens having a spacing between two-bars =50mm. The parameters considered are the variation in bar diameter and the effect of embedded lengths on bonding between two-steel bars and FRC. From the results of the experimental tests, the increase in the depth of embedded length, the ultimate load and the value of slip increased. The use of biggest bar diameter with the same embedded length increase both bond strength and toughness values. Further, behavior of specimens having a spacing between two-bars =25mm had the same behavior in resisting the influential loads during the test while for specimens having a spacing between two-bars =50mm, one of the bars slipped before the other at the initiating of loading and with the loading rate increased, the other reinforcing slipped.Öğe Betonarme yapıların çelik çapraz elemanlar ile güçlendirilmesi(Altınbaş Üniversitesi, 2020) Naimi, Sepanta; Kaya, Semihİçinde bulunduğumuz coğrafya aktif fay hatlarının bulunduğu bir deprem bölgesidir. The client will consider a project to have been unsuccessful if it fails in meeting its goals in terms of the cost, the quality, or the timeliness. Two of the most important factors that will determine whether a project is successful are careful planning of the project and the presence of an efficient monitoring system. Cost overruns are a significant issue for contractors in many instances since they cut into the profit margin of a project and pose a broad variety of other complications for everyone involved in the endeavor [1]. These problems could not be fixed in any other way than by using efficient systems of cost control. Because of this, it is of the utmost importance to recognize techniques for decreasing costs and how their effects contribute to budget overruns [2]. An online questionnaire survey was distributed to all contractors with a rating of A1 through A5. The data were translated into quantitative values by using a combination of% age analysis and weighted score analysis. According to the findings, the most prevalent cost-control techniques, and their efficacy in lowering over-budget and overhead costs while maintaining projected profits are highlighted. Also highlighted is the fact that these measures can help ensure predicted profits. According to the Institute for Construction Training and Development (ICTAD)[3], by conducting training opportunities and awareness campaigns, CIDA could urge contractors to use cost-control strategies, and other similar endeavors. In addition, it is suggested that the submission of certain documents to the ICTAD be made mandatory.Öğe Comparison of skyscraper building design : isolated foundations vs. non-isolated foundations(Altınbaş Üniversitesi, 2023) Rahimi, Mahdi; Naimi, SepantaAs the population grows, the need for safe and comfortable places to live and work increases. Tall buildings are becoming a popular option as they enable efficient use of urban space and provide solutions to the challenges of urbanization. However, the safety of these buildings against natural hazards such as earthquakes is crucial. Engineers are putting a lot of effort into the construction and design of tall buildings, some of which have been successfully completed, while others have been halted due to design difficulties. High-rise buildings have challenged engineers' endurance due to their height and number of floors. Efforts have been made to increase the resistance of tall buildings to natural factors and the weight of the building. One of the most important factors is the building's vibration movement, which must be resistant to wind, loads on the building, and earthquakes. One way to increase the strength of the building is to use isolated foundations. This article investigates whether using an isolated foundation has an effect on the strength of tall buildings. Two 51-floor tall buildings were designed, one with an isolated foundation and one without. The differences between the buildings were evaluated in terms of earthquakes, the greatest risk for buildings. Using the ETABS program and following international standards, these two buildings were designed to withstand the forces of wind, earthquakes, and loads on the building. The loads and forces caused by earthquakes, the resistances and possible damages of both types of buildings were also evaluated.Öğe Deprem etkileri altındaki farklı tiplerde çelik yapıların STASTEEL ve SAP2000 kullanılarak karşılaştırılması(2022) Naimi, Sepanta; Peker, ÖnderÇalışma kapsamında uygulamada sıkça kullanılan StaSTEEL ile referans olarak SAP2000 paket programları kullanılarak, simetrik ve L formunda asimetrik kat şekline sahip üç katlı, on katlı ve on beş katlı çelik yapılar ile bu yapılardan farklı tek katlı bir sanayi yapısı modeli, iki paket program ile çözümlenmiştir. The construction business is profoundly impacted by the prevalence of inaccurate cost and schedule prediction. The main strategy to improve the project performance is to evaluate the hybrid sustainable materials using the artificial neural network (ANN) method based on the effective factors in construction projects in Iraq. This strategy needs an effective method to classify the project input representation and specify the accurate activity of each factor. This paper uses a hybrid artificial neural network to correlate and classify the sustainable hybrid of construction projects to evaluate their performance. The contribution of this method is the selection of the Multi-Criteria Decision-Maker method (MCDM) based on time and cost-effective factors correlated with the artificial neural network method. A dynamic selection procedure for project materials may be created using the existing technique as an evolutionary model for successful project completion. The MCDM observed that the appropriate sustainable material was considered as the main factor with a rank of 0.823 for cost effect and 0.735 for time effect and the main influence factor in Iraqi projects was the building height. The results present superior functional cost evaluation results correlated with the selection of hybrid sustainable materials.
