İstanbul’da yaşayan transların dışlanma ve ayrımcılık deneyimleri üzerine nitel bir çalışma

Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı transların yaşadıkları ayrımcılık ve dışlanma deneyimlerini sistemli bir şekilde tespit etmek ve bu sorunların akademik, toplumsal ve politik söylemlerde daha görünür kılınmasına katkıda bulunmaktır. Bu amaç dâhilinde İstanbul’da yaşayan on trans bireyle yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmış ve görüşme metinleri tematik analiz yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Sonuçlar trans bireylerin sosyal gözetlenme, dışlanma ve şiddet odaklı sorunlar yaşadığına işaret etmektedir. Bu sorunlar sağlık, çalışma, barınma, eğitim alanlarında, sunulan psikolojik/psikiyatrik servislerde ve aile ilişkilerinde yaşanmaktadır. Bulgulara göre katılımcılar temel haklarından ve eşit sosyal statüden mahrum bırakılmaktadırlar. Sıklıkla cinsiyet kimlikleri sorgulanmakta ve özne olarak kendilerini deneyimleme/tanımlama biçimleri kabul edilmemektedir. Ayrımcılık, dışlanma ve taciz sıklıkla tekrar eden ve uzun süreli yaşantılar arasındadır. Bu nedenle katılımcıların sürekli tetiktelik halinde ve ayrımcılık beklentisi içinde oldukları görülmüştür. Mevcut çalışmaya ait bulguların, transların yaşadıkları zorluklara ve mücadelelerine dikkat çekmesi ve akademik çalışmalarda az çalışılan bir grup olan trans bireylere dair gelecek çalışmaları teşvik etmesi hedeflenmiştir. Ayrıca bulguların trans danışanlara sunulan psikoloji ve psikiyatri servislerinin gözden geçirilmesi gerekliliğini de ortaya koyacağı umulmaktadır.
The aim of this study is to identify trans individuals’ experiences of discrimination and exclusion in order to make these problems more visible in academic, social and political discourses. For this study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten trans individuals living in Istanbul and thematic analysis was employed to analyze the data. Results indicate that trans individuals’ problems are focused on the issues of surveillance, exclusion and violence. These problems seem to affect every aspect of participants’ lives, including family relationships, educational experiences, medical and psychological services, housing, and inclusion in the labor market. They are deprived of their basic rights and an equal social status. Moreover, participants are denied recognition in the ways with which they define and experience their gender identity and subjectivity. Finally it is identified that discrimination, exclusion and assaults are so chronic that participants are in a state of constant expectation for and alertness to similar negative experiences. Findings are expected to contribute to an awareness of trans individuals’ problems and their struggles against discrimination and exclusion, and to stimulate further research on this under-research group. Additionally, it is hoped that findings point out a need to review and assess available psychology and psychiatry services provided to trans clients.
