Öğe A model proposal for efficient disaster management: The Turkish sample(Elsevier Science Bv, 2013) Caymaz, Ebru; Akyon, Fehmi Volkan; Erenel, FahriAs it is pointed out in the literature, just focusing on disaster response and recovery phases (namely disaster crisis management) and not paying enough care and attention to mitigation and preparedness phases (namely disaster risk management) has caused different problems in Turkey so far. Turkey's experience with disaster management in the last decade is the prime reason for the need to readdress the disaster mitigation problems in terms of developing a better management mechanism in a manner that would provide highest effectiveness and efficiency. This study aims prevent the unnecessary loss of lives and damage to personal and national assets and properties by presenting a suitable and comprehensive disaster management model at strategic level in line with the standards of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction. Recurring management problems are presented by the methods of discourse and document analysis. It is seen that the current disaster management mechanism has certain weak parts and after in depth interviews, a new model for an efficient disaster management system is tried to be put forth in the end.Öğe An exploratory research on strategic planning in public institutions: Turkish prime ministry disaster and emergency management presidency case(Elsevier Science Bv, 2013) Caymaz, Ebru; Akyon, Fehmi Volkan; Erenel, FahriThe problem of managing public institutions in an efficient and effective manner has been discussed for a long time in public administration discipline. In this discussion platform it is mentioned that the concept of strategic planning might bring a new perspective and might be a necessary tool for changing the inefficient structure of public institutions. Turkey has recognized the significance of forming strategic plans and it is mandatory for each public institution to have a strategic plan now. However, it is also a well-known fact that these strategic plans might become useless and even hinder the progress of the institution if they are not properly prepared. The purpose of the study is to analyse strategic plans in praxis of public sector. In this study we seek an answer to the following questions; to what extent newly published strategic plans are embraced by the government and implemented by the institution, and whether there is a difference between the envisioned and actual results. The current strategic plan of Turkish Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) is chosen as our research sample. As it is directly affiliated with the Turkish Prime Ministry, this plan is considered to be a decent sample in terms of reflecting the population. All strategic plans related to disaster management, written in English and Turkish, are examined in this study. Obtained data is analyzed by the method of content analysis. The findings shall not only reveal us information regarding to what extent the new planning approach has been applied by AFAD but also provide us the opportunity to make a comparison between the strategic plans of disaster management systems in different countries.Öğe Üniversite öğrencilerinin işveren seçim kriterlerinin belirlenmesine yönelik keşfedici bir araştırma(2011) Baş, Türker; Aydınlık, Arzu Ülgen; Erenel, FahriBu çalışma ile üniversite öğrencilerinin mezun olduktan sonra çalışacakları işverenleri seçim kararlarında rol oynayan faktörler ve söz konusu faktörlerin etki dereceleri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. İki aşamada gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın ilk aşamasında öğrencilerden mezun olduktan sonra çalışmayı düşündükleri işverenleri belirtmeleri istenmiş, daha sonra her bir işvereni seçme nedenleri tümevarımsal bir yaklaşımla derinlemesine sorgulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, Patton (1990) ve Breaugh’un (1983, 1992) önerileri doğrultusunda sistematik bir süreç izlenerek derlenmiş ve 5 faktörden oluşan bir ölçek geliştirilmiştir. İkinci aşamada, ilk aşamada geliştirilen anket formu Türkiye’deki 87 farklı üniversitedeki yaklaşık 188.523 öğrencinin e-posta adresine gönderilmiş ve 19.894 kullanılabilir anket formu elde edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin işveren seçimlerinde; kariyer olanakları/çalışma şartları, görsel kimlik, ürün/hizmetler, örgüt kültürü ve rekabetçi konum faktörlerini dikkate aldıkları belirlenmiştir. Bunlardan rekabetçi konum ve kariyer olanakları/çalışma şartları faktörleri temel belirleyici durumunda iken, bu iki faktörü sırasıyla ürün/hizmetler, örgüt kültürü ve görsel kimlik faktörlerinin izlediği gözlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular daha önce yapılan araştırmalar ışığında değerlendirilmiştir.Öğe Validation of a conscientious corporate brand framework - A Turkish study(Inderscience Publishers, 2013) Baş, Türker; Aydınlık, Arzu Ülgen; Svensson, Göran; Mysen, Tore; Erenel, FahriThis study tests a construct of Conscientious Corporate Brand (hereinafter called CCB) introduced by Rindell et al. (2011). It assesses the dimensions of environmental and climate change issues, and the internal and external corporate codes of ethics. Subsequently, it builds upon and validates previous research in the field of ethical branding. The study was performed in business-to-business relationships of large Turkish companies.
