Özet
Today, among diseases, cancer is one of the greatest contributors to the global mortality rate. Many dietary factors have been shown to raise the risk of developing cancer, while others have been seen to provide protective effects against cancer. Many recommendations and treatment plans have been proposed and conducted to enable cancer patients to create their own disease-specific dietary plans. This chapter will discuss in details these dietary protocols and supplements and their impact on cancer, with emphasis on a complete diet plan for certain type of cancers. Another area of concern when discussing a dietary course in cancer patients is the possibility of drug-food interactions that could negatively affect the therapeutic outcome. Consequently, a balance between the dietary requirements and the therapeutic outcome of the patient must be considered. The role of the clinical pharmacist in maintaining this balance is achieved by assisting in patient dietary needs, helping patients in selecting a dietary plan, implementing this plan, and following-up patients to ensure that this balance is maintained. © 2021 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
