Study of laboratory and clinical findings in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome
(Altınbaş Üniversitesi, 2023) Büyük, Musa; Karacar Büyük, Nagihan; Suman, Kamuran; Kuşcu, Havva; Gök, Ebru; Suman, Murat
Background/aim: To study blood parameters and clinical features of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Materials and methods: We retrospectively studied 200 patients diagnosed with PCOS admitted to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Outpatient Department of Afyon State Hospital between March 2019 and June 2021. We noted the complaints of the outpatient clinic also their body mass indexes, the presence of insulin resistance according to the Homeostatic Model Assessment (HOMA) index, and their hormone profiles. Results: The mean age of the PCOS patients was 25.0±4.3 years, and the mean body mass index was 24.8±3.7 kg/height (m2). According to HOMA (n=31), 31% of patients have insulin resistance. Female patients frequently visited the clinic because of menstrual irregularities. Elevated prolactin levels were noted in 15% of patients. thyroid-stimulating hormone levels are elevated in 10% of the patients. Conclusion: Polycystic ovary syndrome is a genetic problem and may have clinical symptoms with insulin resistance. Patients have gynecological symptoms and metabolic changes. Patients diagnosed with PCOS should be fully informed and educated about the risks that may occur during their lifetime. Additional to medical treatment, patients should exercise and have a proper diet.

The assessment of the relationship between organizational arrogance and conflict management tendency between the nurses working in private hospitals
(Altınbaş Üniversitesi, 2023) Müderrisoğlu, Tolga; İşci, Emre
Although organizational arrogance has been studied by various researchers, there are not enough studies in healthcare settings. Organizational arrogance can be perceived as different subgroups in an organization. The organizational arrogance scale, which has been developed by Herbin (2018), provides the opportunity to measure organizational arrogance as 3 different subgroups. Conflict in organizations has been studied by various authors in management and psychology literatures. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between organizational arrogance and organizational conflict management tendency in nurses who work in private hospitals in Istanbul, Türkiye. 454 nurses have provided data for this study. According to our research; there is not a statistical significance between organizational conflict management tendency and overconfidence in organizational capabilities (r = .04, p > .05). There is a positive, very low level statistical significance (r = .12, p < .05) between organizational conflict management tendency and dismissiveness to internal and external organizational matters. There is a negative, low level statistical significance (r = -.23, p < .05) between organizational conflict management tendency and disparagement of intraorganizational and interorganizational members. The study has derived from a PhD research, conducted in Marmara University Institute of Health Sciences.

Complicated crown-root fractures : two case reports
(Altınbaş Üniversitesi, 2023) Bolgul, Behiye; Arıkan, Rukiye; Peker, Öykü
Dentoalveolar traumas mostly occur in children and adolescents as a result of falls, fights, and vehicle accidents (Ellis, Moos & El-Atlar, 1985; Baratieri, Monteiro & Andrada, 1990). Traumatic dental injuries can cause a variety of damage, ranging from minimal enamel loss to complicated fractures involving the pulp (Andreasen, Andreasen & Andersson, 2007). Fractures involving enamel, dentin and cementum are called crown-root fractures. It can be classified as a complicated or uncomplicated crown-root fracture according to whether the trauma involves the pulp (Andreasen & Andreasen, 1994). 80% of these traumas are related to the central incisors and 16% to the lateral incisors (Andreasen & Ravn, 1972). Treatment options depend on the level of the fracture line and the amount of tooth tissue remaining. Depending on the pulpal conditions, the amount of tooth eruption, whether there is a tooth piece compatible with the remaining tooth structure, the length and morphology of the root, the situation in the aesthetic region and the patient's aesthetic expectation (Andreasen & Ravn, 1972; Kırzıoğlu & Karayılmaz, 2007) Direct capping, pulpotomy, or root canal treatment are among the treatment options that can be applied. In these case reports, it was seen that successful results were obtained with correct diagnosis and treatment options even in cases that seem quite complicated and have low probability of success, and treatment options that can be applied after late trauma were stated.

Optimization and evaluation of moisturizing cream containing dexpanthenol
(Altınbaş Üniversitesi, 2023) Barbar, Arkan; Kalayi, Mohammed; Aksu, Buket
Background/aim: The main purpose of this work was to prepare and evaluate a moisturizing cream containing dexpanthenol.Materials and methods: In this study, several cream formulations were prepared using the oil-inwater (O/W) emulsion technique to investigate the effect of varying concentrations of the independent variable on the physical appearance, pH, electrical conductivity, viscosity and spreadability. Different formulations were prepared with different combinations of Cera alba and Stearic acid with various excipients. The developed formulations were examined with the QbD approach. A process known as "quality by design" uses statistical, analytical, and risk-management techniques in the planning, development, and production of pharmaceuticals to guarantee the predetermined quality of the product. Results: According to the QbD studies, the Design Space is given for optimum formulae. After establishing the model equations for the main effects and responses, various cream formulations containing stearic acid and cera alba were optimized based on spreadability, viscosity, and electrical conductivity. Conclusion: In conclusion, the outcomes of different formulations obtained in this research study clearly showed that a moisturizing cream containing a certain ratio of Cera alba and Stearic acid have an up-and-coming potential. Therefore, proportions of Cera alba and Stearic acid are included in the moisturizing cream to win its cosmetic benefits.

Digitalization in health management system and new member in the top management team : chief digital officers
    (Altınbaş Üniversitesi, 2023) Aydemir, Muzaffer
In the last few decades, technology has been more influential in our lives than ever before. Digital transformation, which is one of the outcomes of technology, has brought new application areas and new managerial positions. One of the effective areas of digital transformation is health organizations. The digital transformation in the health sector can only be realized effectively and efficiently with competent senior managers. Chief Digital Officers (CDO) are the top managers responsible for digital transformation and applications in organizational structures. In today's conditions, CDOs are the senior managers responsible for managing digitalization in global and national health organizations, health service providers and individual health practices. In the near future, we will see an increasing number of CDOs in healthcare organizations.
